What’s with Beyonce and Alicia Keys trying to be all Latina? Alicia Keys recently came out with a duet done with Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz–Looking for Paradise. Well good for them trying to be mutli-cultural. I know that that combination of singers–a Spanish singer and a black singer–will be appealing to American Latinos, given the Black-Latino identification that we often see. You know what I mean.
But I think Alejandro Sanz really should stick to singing in Spanish hahahaha. And Ms Keys in English. I normally have no problem with accents–so many people in California have them that it’s a non-issue–and there’s nothing I love more than music in English and Spanish (Ozomatli, Yerba Buena, Domino Saints, Spigga (who changed their name to something I don’t like as much)). BUT Alejandro Sanz has the world’s best linguists at his disposition and he still sounds ridiculous. Hahaha. AND when your’e singing it’s easier to hide your accent. NO EXCUSES, Mr. Sanz!!! hahaha.
So I say no to Sanzy singing in English.
And the multi-cultural roof party is pretty funny too. Come on, like you’ve EVER partied with Chinese and Black people in Spain, Sanzy. Come on. hahaha.
