Bibles For America

Over the break I’m working for Bibles for America, which is an organization that I love. BfA is a non-profit organization that distributes free copies of the New Testament Recovery Version Study Bible, as well as certain Christian literature titles. I’m doing random projects in the Spanish section, which has been pretty chill so far.

I really like the study Bible that they distribute because it’s supposed to be a very accurate, direct translation that incorporates and builds on everything that has been learned from previous translations of the Bible. It’s written in language that is easy to understand and pleasant to read, and has extensive footnotes that open the Word and help bring you into the experience and understanding of all the truths in the Bible. The footnotes also refer to the Greek text frequently, which I like, because no translation is perfect and as I understand, English cannot always adequately express what is conveyed in the original Greek text.

I’m reading through the literature, I really like all the “Basic Elements of the Chrisitan Life” booklets, and I’m reading God’s Economy now. All the books BfA distribute are also available for free in pdf format at http://mass.ministrybooks.org/

“…Do you really know the things that you are reading?’ And he said, How could I unless someone guides me?…” Acts 8:30-31
