I Say Yes To

v Corner Bakery Cafe

I was suprised how much I liked this. I really dislike Panera and I’m just down on chains in general, but I can’t deny it–their cookies are really amazing and the sandwich I had there was really good. Roast beef with avocado, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, grilled red bell pepper and chipotle mayo on poblano cheese bread. I mean, come on. That’s pretty good.

v Tapas y Cañas

(back post from my time in Madrid)

For some reason we went to Tapas y Cañas for Luzia´s birthday. It´s this chain that carries all the regular typical Spanish stuff that all the other bars in the city carry, except that it’s cleaner and nicer inside than a normal bar. So why go here? You tell me. I’d much rather go to a normal SOMB (Shady Old Man Bar) and get the real deal experience. Here, I seriously felt like I was in a Spanish restaurant in America. Or what I imagine one would be like. And that’s not really what you want if you travel all the way over there.

Ok, looking at their menu now, they also have actual plates of food (as opposed to tapas) which sound like they could be good. Maybe I should give this place another chance. Oh well, too late.

Anyways, everyone was talking in French, but Penelope saved me and talked to me in Spanish. What a sweetheart!

On the website is says “gourmet Spanish food”. BAH! I think we orderd some big dish of fries with ham and a fried egg on it. Real gourmet, Spaniards. Hahaha. Ok, now I’m just being mean. I will stop ragging on this restaurant.
